Tour route: Huaraz Recuay – Catac – Pampa de Buenos Aires – Lag. Querococha – Cahuish Tunnel – Conchucos Valley – Chavín de Huantar – National Museum of Chavín – return to Huaraz. Tour development:

9:00 am: Tours to the south of Huaraz, to the Conchucos Valley and the ancient temple of Chavín de Huantar. During our visit we will visit the Andean towns of Recuay (3,442 meters above sea level) and Catac, Pampa de Buenos Aires. We will arrive at the Querococha Lagoon (3,980 meters above sea level), located at the foot of the Pucaraju and Yanamarey snow-capped mountains. In addition, we will observe the map of Peru (geological fault). We will pass through the Cahuish tunnel (4,516 meters above sea level), we will cross through the tunnel to enter the Conchucos Valley and when we leave the Cristo de los Andes will welcome us. We will descend towards the Conchucos Valley, passing through the mining towns of Tambillos, Máchac, Quercos, and we arrive at Chavín.
1:00 pm: Arrival in Chavín (3,180 meters above sea level), lunch at a tourist restaurant.
After a delicious lunch we will visit the Archaeological Monument of Chavín de Huantar, declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. We will see galleries and labyrinths, quadrangular and circular atriums, nail heads considered guardians of the Chavín temple, monolithic lance, falconid doorway with its columns and cornices, Choquechinchay altar, staircases.

Finally, visit the modern National Museum of Chavín, its galleries exhibit the technological innovation and planning of Chavín. It exhibits the nail heads, tombstones and carved cornices that decorated the temple, a ceremonial model, floors with graphics with high traffic, a visual scene with the help of videos and photos, more than 200 pieces of ceramics, a variety of conch shells and pututos, Tello Obelisk, the emblematic piece of the museum, Estela Raimondy and the Monolithic Lanzón in replica, Cabezas Clavas and the latest archaeological finds in Chavín.
Return to Huaraz by tourist transportation.
