Cusco
Salkantay Trek 2 days

CUSCO – CHALLACANCHA – HUMANTAY – SORAYPAMPA (06 horas trekking)

  • Today, our trekking adventure begins! We will meet at Plaza Regocijo (one block from the Plaza de Armas) between 4:15 AM and 4:30 AM.
  • We will travel in a comfortable vehicle to Mollepata (approx. 3 hours), where we will enjoy a nutritious breakfast (included).
  • Then, we will drive for another hour to Challacancha (3,380 meters / 11,090 feet)—the starting point of our hike—passing through the valley that splits in two (the Mollepata and Challacancha valleys).
  • The trail begins with beautiful scenery. After a 3-hour hike, we will arrive at our first campsite in Soraypampa (3,900 meters / 12,800 feet) around 1:00 PM.
  • We will have time to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by our chef.
  • Later, after lunch, we will visit the famous Humantay Lake!
  • After a 1-hour-and-30-minute hike, we will reach the lake (4,220 meters / 13,850 feet). It offers an incredible view, featuring the lake’s blue-green waters set against the snow-capped peak of Mount Humantay—making it one of the most breathtaking spots in the Andes.
  • We will take some time to admire the stunning views before descending back to our campsite in Soraypampa. Upon arrival around 6:00 PM, we will have tea and dinner, and spend the night in our beautiful glass cabins.

Hiking distance: 12 km / 7.4 miles.

SORAYPAMPA – PASO SALKANTAY – CUSCO (7 horas de trekking)

  • We will rise very early to begin the hike toward Salkantay Pass.
  • We will traverse the mountain landscape, gaining altitude as we go; this offers a new perspective on the surrounding peaks and—weather permitting—allows us to see the spot where we spent the previous night.
  • We will follow the trail up to the pass, located at an altitude of 4,600 meters—the highest point of the trek.
  • If cloud cover conditions are favorable, we will be able to get a close-up view of the snow-capped Salkantay and Humantay mountains while taking a break from the ascent.
  • After witnessing this spectacular natural sight, we will return along the same path to our base camp to gather our belongings and board the vehicle that will take us back to Cusco, where the activity concludes.
